Bible Verses for Fear

Let’s Talk About Fear

Fear is the instinctive response to threat or loss of control—the feeling that rises when we face what we cannot manage, predict, or protect ourselves from.

It is the trembling of a heart that has forgotten who stands with it.

Human fear is anxiety, dread, or panic in the face of danger or uncertainty.

Holy fear is reverent awe—the humble awareness of God’s power and presence.

The Hebrew word for fear can mean both terror and awe. What changes its meaning is who it is directed toward. When we fear the Lord, all other fears begin to lose their hold.

Faith is not the absence of fear. It is allowing holy fear to replace human fear—reverence over panic, trust over terror, and confidence in God over confidence in ourselves.

Some Verses for Fear

Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love.

Psalm 32:7

You are a hiding place for me; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with shouts of deliverance.

Isaiah 43:1–2

But now, thus says the Lord, He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you. When you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame will not consume you.
